01: What is Memoraid?

Memoraid helps groups memorize sequential text: song lyrics, scripts, speeches, liturgy, anything where order and flow matter. As an admin, you load the content once. Your members can then drill it immediately with no accounts, no downloads, and no setup required on their end.

The app offers seven drill modes ranging from gentle recognition (Flashcard) to full recall (Type It Out), so members can choose the approach that works best for them at any stage of memorization.

02: Adding Texts

From the Admin Panel, scroll down to the Add New Text form. Give your text a title and choose a type: Continuous or Script.

💡 Each line break in your text becomes one drill item. Short, natural phrase breaks work better than long run-on lines.

03: Continuous Texts

Use Continuous for single-voice content: song lyrics, speeches, poems, liturgy. You can add multiple parts within one text (e.g. Verse 1, Chorus, Bridge, or Section A, Section B).

How to format

Paste your text into the part editor. Each line becomes one drill item:

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind but now I see

Annotations

Text in parentheses is treated as a stage direction or rehearsal marker. It's shown as grey italic context but never tested:

(Verse 1, slowly)
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound

Multiple parts

Click Add Part to add additional sections to the same text. Members can select which part to drill from the drill screen.

04: Script Texts

Use Script for plays, scenes, or any multi-character content. Paste the full script as one block. Memoraid detects the characters and splits the lines automatically.

Required format

Speaker names must be ALL CAPS followed by a colon. Dialogue can follow on the same line or the next line:

DOROTHY: We're off to see the wizard

TIN MAN:
That's wonderful news

SCARECROW: I can't wait to get a brain
⚠️ If speaker names are not in ALL CAPS followed by a colon, the app will not detect them as characters. Double-check your formatting if characters aren't appearing correctly.

Unison lines

Separate speaker names with commas for lines spoken together. The line will appear in the drill for all listed characters:

DOROTHY, TIN MAN, SCARECROW: We're off to see the wizard

Annotations in scripts

Text in parentheses is shown as grey italic stage direction, never tested:

DOROTHY: (nervously) I don't think we're in Kansas anymore

What members see

Each member selects their character from a dropdown. They only drill their own lines, with the preceding lines from other characters shown as context cues.

05: Sharing With Members

  1. Find your group code in the Admin Panel toolbar or at the top of this page when logged in.
  2. Share it with your members via email, text message, or group chat.
  3. Members go to usememoraid.com, enter the group code on the home screen, and immediately see all your texts.
  4. The app remembers their group code, so they won't need to re-enter it each visit.
💡 No account, no download, no setup required for members. Just the group code and a browser.

06: Drill Modes

Memoraid offers seven drill modes. Members can switch between them freely at any time.

🃏

Flashcard

The previous line is shown as a cue. The member recalls the next line, then reveals it to check. They self-report Got it or Missed it. Classic spaced-repetition feel. Great for early-stage learning.

📝

Blanks

The line is shown with meaningful words blanked out. Members fill in the blanks mentally, then tap to reveal. Good for reinforcing specific words once the overall sequence is familiar.

🔡

First Letters

Only the first letter of each word is shown. Members reconstruct the full line from memory. A step up from Blanks, with more recall and less recognition.

⌨️

Type It Out

Members type the next line from memory. Scoring is fuzzy, so minor typos and punctuation differences don't count against them. The most demanding recall mode.

📈

Progressive

All lines are visible at once, then progressively hidden level by level. Members can flag individual lines to review later. Good for getting an overview and identifying weak spots.

🎯

Multiple Choice

Members pick the correct next line from four options. Auto-advances after each answer. Lower pressure than full recall, good for early familiarity or warming up.

🎭

Scene Partner Script only

The app reads other characters' lines aloud using text-to-speech, then pauses for the member to say their own line. Simulates running lines with a scene partner. Best for theater and performance contexts.

07: Stats & Member Feedback

Stats tab

The Stats tab (visible only to admins) shows activity across your group once members start drilling. It includes:

  • Session counts: how many drill sessions have been completed per text
  • Problem lines heatmap: which lines are being missed most often across all members. Useful for knowing what to focus on at rehearsal.

Member Messages

Members can tap Contact Admin while drilling to send you a message, typically to flag a typo, ask about a line, or note an issue. These messages appear in the Stats tab under Member Messages. Only you can see them.

💡 Stats only populate after members start using the app. Check back once your group is active. It usually takes a session or two before the data gets interesting.

08: Managing Your Group

Editing texts

Click the Edit button on any text in the Admin Panel to update the title, content, or parts. Changes are immediately visible to all members.

Deleting texts

Click Delete on any text to remove it. This cannot be undone, so export a backup first if needed.

Export & Import

Use the Export button to download all your texts as a JSON file. Use Import to restore from a backup or load texts shared by another group. This is the recommended way to back up your content.

Changing your password

Click Change Password in the Admin Panel toolbar. You'll need your current password to set a new one.

Scene Partner Pause

Click Scene Partner Pause to set how long the app waits for a member to say their line in Scene Partner mode. The default is 0.5 seconds per word. Increase it if your group needs more time to respond.

09: Tips & Best Practices

  • Keep lines short. One natural phrase per line works better than long sentences. Members drill one line at a time, so shorter lines feel more achievable.
  • Use parts to break up long texts. Instead of one giant text, split a long piece into Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, etc. Members can focus on one part at a time.
  • Export regularly. Your texts are stored in the cloud, but a local JSON backup takes two seconds and protects against accidental deletion.
  • Start members on Multiple Choice or Flashcard. These modes are lower pressure and build familiarity before moving to harder modes like Type It Out.
  • Check Stats after the first week. The problem lines heatmap quickly shows you which lines need more rehearsal time, often not the ones you expected.
  • Annotations are your friend. Use parentheses for section labels, tempo notes, or stage directions. They show up as context but are never tested, so members aren't penalised for them.

01: Getting Started

To use Memoraid, all you need is the group code from your director or admin.

  1. Go to usememoraid.com in any browser on your phone or computer.
  2. Enter your group code on the home screen and tap Join.
  3. You'll see all the texts your admin has loaded. Tap one to start drilling.

02: The Drill Modes

Memoraid has seven ways to drill. You can switch between them freely. Try different ones to find what works best for you at each stage of learning.

🃏

Flashcard

You're shown the previous line as a cue, then try to recall the next line before revealing it. Tap Got it or Missed it to track your progress. Great for starting out.

📝

Blanks

Key words are replaced with blanks. Try to fill them in mentally, then tap Reveal to see the full line. Good for reinforcing words you keep forgetting.

🔡

First Letters

Only the first letter of each word is shown. Try to reconstruct the full line from memory. A step harder than Blanks. Use it when you're nearly there but not quite solid.

⌨️

Type It Out

Type the next line from memory. The app gives you a score based on accuracy, so minor typos and punctuation differences won't count against you. The most challenging mode, best used once you know the material well.

📈

Progressive

All lines are shown at once, then progressively hidden. Good for getting an overview of the full text and spotting which sections you're weakest on. You can flag lines to review later.

🎯

Multiple Choice

Pick the correct next line from four options. The app moves automatically after each answer. Lower pressure than full recall, good for early learning or a quick warm-up.

🎭

Scene Partner Scripts only

The app reads other characters' lines aloud, then pauses for you to say your line out loud. Like running lines with a scene partner. Only available for script texts. Works best with headphones.

03: Tips for Memorizing

  • Start with Multiple Choice or Flashcard. These build familiarity without pressure. Once you know the material reasonably well, move to harder modes.
  • Short sessions beat long ones. 10 minutes a day over a week is more effective than one hour the night before. The app is designed for quick daily practice.
  • Use Progressive to find your weak spots. It shows everything at once, so you can quickly see which lines you're shaky on before drilling them specifically.
  • Flag lines in Progressive. When you spot a line you keep getting wrong, tap the flag button. Flagged lines go into Review Missed mode for targeted practice.
  • Try First Letters when you're almost there. If you can get through most lines on Flashcard but still stumble on a few, First Letters gives just enough of a hint to push you over.
  • Use Scene Partner for performance context. If you're in a play or scene, Scene Partner mode mimics the real experience of someone reading lines to you, making it the most realistic practice available.

04: Contacting Your Admin

If you spot a typo, a missing line, or anything that looks wrong while drilling, you can send a message directly to your admin:

  1. Tap the Contact Admin button that appears in the drill header.
  2. Type your message describing the issue.
  3. Tap Send.

Your admin will see your message in their Stats panel. Other members cannot see your messages.
